Aarlington, Va. — The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) reported that James Hedlund will join CEA from Yahoo to become regulatory affairs VP in late September.

CEA also announced the promotions to VP of Parker Brugge and Veronica O’Connell.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jamie to CEA’s government and legal affairs department,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA. “His experience as a senior Federal Communications Commission staff member and background as a strong advocate for the consumer technology industry will help further our ongoing policy efforts on behalf of the industry.”

Hedlund most recently was  public policy director for CEA member company Yahoo where he was responsible for telecom, media, technology, intellectual property, energy efficiency and tax policy, and served as lead advocate before congressional and executive branch agencies and committees on legislative and regulatory priorities.

Before joining Yahoo!, Hedlund held senior policy and business roles at T-Mobile, Level 3 Communications, Sprint and the FCC. Hedlund holds a Juris Doctor from Tulane University and a B.A. from Georgetown University.

Parker Brugge has been promoted to environmental policy and industry sustainability VP and Veronica O'Connell to congressional affairs VP.

Under his new title, Brugge will continue to represent the consumer electronics industry internationally and before federal, state and local governments on critical issues such as electronics recycling, substance restrictions, energy efficiency and other environmental issues.

O’Connell, who joined CEA in 2001, serves as an advocate for the consumer electronics industry on public policy issues, including telecommunications policy, technical mandates, digital television, spectrum reform and copyright issues.
