XM Products Get FCC Okay

Washington — Delphi and Audiovox have received certification by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for the XM-based Delphi SkyFi2 and Audiovox Xpress plug-and-play receivers, after having previously suspended shipments on these products due to an FCC inquiry.

Delphi and Audiovox are now shipping the amended products, which conform to FCC standards.

XM disclosed at the end of April it received a letter from the FCC, questioning the transmitter emission limits of the SkyFi2, and said Audiovox received a similar letter.

XM believed it resolved the problem recently by adding a small ferrite clip to the antenna. Reportedly the cost of the ferrite clip adjustment is about 25 to 30 cents per unit.
