Workman Picked To Head PRO Group

Chicago – Dave Workman, former president/CEO of Ultimate Electronics and a prior board member of the Progressive Retailers Organization (PRO) Group, has been hired by PRO as its new executive director.

In effect Workman replaces Roger Heuberger, who left the PRO Group earlier this month, and held the positions of president, executive director, COO and CEO during his tenure.

Workman takes the helm of PRO after a busy few months in his career. Last December he became president of Warrantech Consumer Product Services but left there early in January to become president/CEO of MARTA Cooperative of America when that group merged with competing buying group Brand Source. Workman left MARTA Friday, Feb. 3 due to the group’s new alliance with the larger Brand Source buying organization, and newfound redundancies between its services and the role of MARTA’s chief executive.

Since then industry rumors were rampant that Workman would become executive director of PRO, due to his intimate knowledge of the group he was part of for years.

In a prepared statement George Manlove, president of Vann’s and PRO’s chairman, said the board selected Workman because “Dave has the vision and skills we need to make us a stronger group and a better business parner to our key vendors. He knows PRO very well and is highly regarded in both the vendor and retail communities.

In the same statement Workman added “Having a long history with the PRO Group through Ultimate Electronics this position represents an exciting opportunity for me to serve the membership through a deep understanding of the strengths and new opportunities which currently exist for the group.” Workman can be reached at [email protected] or at (817)656-9541 and (817)320-0389.
