– Wisdom Audio plans a series of invitation-only events at dealer locations
during the holidays to demonstrate its top-end Reference LS4 line source
planar-magnetic speaker and companion STS subwoofer to consumers.
The
limited-production LS4 tower speaker, the company’s highest-end speaker to
date, retails for $40,000 each and is available only through select retailers
and custom integrators.
Two events have
been finalized, and more are in the works, the company said. One event will be
held at New York City’s Stereo Exchange on Nov. 22, with a media preview at
4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and the listening session beginning at 6 p.m. On Dec. 8,
Sound Components of Coral Gables, Fla., will hold an event, also with a
4:30-5:30 p.m. media preview and a 6 p.m. listening session.
The line-source
technology in the 80-inch-tall LS4 is promoted by Wisdom as delivering “a
coherent acoustical wavefront with ultra-wide horizontal dispersion and
controlled vertical dispersion.” It is designed for use with the matched STS
subwoofer, which delivers frequencies below 80Hz.
Because it is only
12 inches deep, the LS 4 can be used as an on-wall speaker or, with optional
bases, as an in-room speaker. Interior designers can hide them behind
decorative, acoustically transparent cloth for a completely hidden
installation, the company added.
The speaker is
housed in a curved arc enclosure.
