Windows 7 To Boost AIO Sales: DisplaySearch

10/22/2009 02:36:12 PM Eastern

New York - The combination of Windows 7 and lower-priced LCD panels could lead to a boon for all-in-one (AIO) PC sales next year, stated a DisplaySearch report.
DisplaySearch is forecasting AIO shipments to hit the 5.9 million mark worldwide in 2010, up from 3.2 million units in 2008. Final 2009 figures were not available, but DisplaySearch is estimating about 2.3 million units have shipped during the first half.
The inclusion of touchscreen software in Windows 7 has spurred most PC vendors to roll out new or revamped touchscreen AIO PCs during the past month. The primary difference with the latest crop is they are now able to hit lower price points, something not possible last year when LCD shortages kept display prices high, said Chris Connery, DisplaySearch's PC and large-format displays VP.
