Lake Forest, Calif. — WD introduced its MyBook Mirror Edition dual-drive storage system. The drive features RAID-based continuous data protection designed to save all data twice, once on each of its internal drives.
According to a release, the drive and included backup software can be used to automatically and continuously back up a PC.
The device is formatted for Windows computers. It features a USB 2.0 interface, comes configured out of the box in RAID 1 mode and is available in capacities of 1TB and 2TB.
The drive’s GreenPower operation is said to allow it to consumer approximately one-third less power than standard dual-drive external storage systems. It has been designed without a fan for quiet operation.
The company said that the design allows owners to self-service the product.
On the cosmetic side, the drive features a capacity gauge so users can learn how much space is available on the system at a glance. It also features LED status and activity lights.
The drive is protected by a three-year limited warranty.
The My Book Mirror Edition is available now at $289.99 and $549.99, respectively for the 1TB and 2TB versions.
