WD Ships Ultrabook HDD

Irvine, Calif. – Western Digital today released a new
low-powered mobile hard drive for the Ultrabook market.

Dubbed the WD Scorpio Blue, the drive is 7mm thick, compared
with the industry standard 9.5mm, and it comes in 320GB and 500GB capacities.
WD said these drives will help fill the gap created in the Ultrabook market by expensive
and lower-capacity solid-state drives by offering standard amounts of storage
at much lower prices.

The 320GB version costs $79 and the 500GB $99.

Western Digital combined standard 2.5-inch platter HDD
technology.

Western Digital said the drive can sustain a 400G shock.

It is available in distribution.
