Warner, TI Join HANA

Ridgefield Park, N.J. — Warner Bros. and Texas Instruments have joined the High-definition AV Network Alliance (HANA) as promoter members, the alliance announced.

The two new members bring the alliance’s total membership to 20 to date, with more expected.

According to a statement announcing the additions, Warner Bros. and TI joined the alliance “to deliver on the promise of secure high-definition content shared around the home over the HANA network, ultimately enhancing the consumer HD experience.”

“As a content provider, Warner Bros. wants consumers to be able to enjoy our HD content anywhere in their homes with the greatest possible ease, while maintaining content security,” said Alan Bell, Warner Bros. technical operations executive VP. “HANA provides an excellent means of setting the reference designs to make that a reality.”

“TI is excited about being a part of the HANA Alliance, and as the market leader in IEEE-1394 (FireWire) silicon, we see great potential in transporting high-definition content via 1394 in the digital home network environment,” said Zephra Freeman, TI’s digital interface unit strategic marketing manager. “With HANA leveraging both the bandwidth and content-protection capabilities offered by 1394, our participation positions us well to influence silicon solutions.”
