Dallas – Samsung unveiled a
low-cost Android phone 4G HSPA+ phone that will be the first 4G prepaid
smartphone offered by Walmart.
Operating exclusively on the T-Mobile network,
the Samsung
Exhibit II 4G will be
available at most Walmart stores starting Oct. 27 with no annual contract at $199, Samsung said. With
two-year postpaid contract, the phone will become available Nov. 2 for $29 through
T-Mobile stores and through retailers. The phone will also become available
through those channels with prepaid plans.
Features include Android 2.3
Gingerbread OS, 3.7-inch
WVGA TFT touchscreen, 1GHz Qualcomm
Snapdragon processor,
Samsung Media Hub to download movies and TV shows, 3-megapixel
rear-facing camera with flash and video capture, front-facing camera for video chats
over Wi-Fi and 4G, and ability to sync with Microsoft Exchange and Google
calendar and contacts.
