VTech Phones Get Greener

4/06/2009 03:14:00 PM Eastern

Beaverton, Ore. — VTech Communications said its spring cordless phone lineup will adhere to Energy Star and RoHS certification standards and have more environmentally friendly packaging.

The company’s club-store packaging is said to be 100 percent recyclable and has a 41 percent reduced gift-box size. Among the changes made to the packaging, a total of 14 ounces of PET plastic has been reduced from each box, the company said.

The 2009 cordless phones will be available through retailers and club stores beginning this month, VTech said.
