Vogel Steps Down From Dish, EchoStar Posts

Englewood, Colo. — Carl Vogel, vice chairman of Dish Network and subsidiaries, will be relinquishing his position and leaving the company, the company disclosed in its 8-k filing Tuesday.

Vogel is also leaving his seat on the board of directors of sister company EchoStar and his position as senior advisor to that company and its subsidiaries.

R. Stanton Dodge, executive VP, general counsel and secretary of Dish Network and EchoStar, was appointed to fill the vacancy on the EchoStar board of directors created by the departure. Vogel will remain as a senior advisor to Dish Network and as a member of its board of directors.

In an email to employees, EchoStar and Dish Network CEO and chairman Charlie Ergen stated, “Over the years, Carl has proven invaluable to the growth and success of Dish Network and EchoStar, and it has been a privilege to work with him in various leadership roles within both organizations. I am grateful for the years of excellent service that Carl has contributed, and the role he played in the launch and development of Dish Network. I know you will join me in thanking him and wishing him the very best in his future endeavors.”

Vogel’s departure marks the second time he has left leadership positions with the direct-to-home satellite company after helping to build the company’s subscriber base.

In recent quarters, the company has seen its new subscriber addition diminish significantly in the face of gains by DirecTV and telco TV services.
