Vizio Confirms Tablet, Smartphone Entries

Irvine, Calif. – TV maker Vizio will enter the smartphone
and tablet markets at this week’s CES, where it will show Android-based models,
a spokesman told TWICE.

The spokesman didn’t provide details, but a Wall Street Journal
article said the company’s first cellphone will feature 4-inch touchscreen,
front-facing camera for video calls, and HDMI output.

The tablet will feature 8-inch screen, front-facing camera
for video chat, and Wi-Fi but no embedded cellular. Both will be available
sometime in the summer with a user interface similar to those on Vizio TVs.

The Via Phone and Via Tablet will also access Vizio’s Via
Plus Internet service, available on Vizio TVs to deliver access to such
Internet content services as Netflix, Facebook, and Twitter, the Journal report
said.
