Vizio Adds HDMI Switching To Soundbar

New
York – Vizio plans third-quarter shipment of its first soundbar to incorporate
HDMI switching.

The
VHT215, which is also the company’s slimmest soundbar to date with 1.8-inch
depth, features dual 3D-compatible HDMI 1.4a inputs to switch between an
HD-capable set-top box and a Blu-ray player. The single 1.4a output features audio
return channel. The device, whose price wasn’t revealed, also features analog
audio input and digital S/PDIF input.

A
wireless subwoofer is included.

The
soundbar incorporates Dolby Digital 5.1 decoder and SRS Studio Sound HD post
processing, a suite of technologies that delivers a virtual 5.1-channel sound field
through a two-channel speaker system from stereo and multichannel sources.

StudioSound HD also includes SRS
technologies that automatically detect and level out abrupt volume changes that
occur when TV programs switch to commercials or when channels are changed. The
suite also separates vocals from other content to dynamically adjust the dialog
level to ensure intelligibility, and it enhances small-driver sound quality.

The
soundbar can be hung on a wall or placed on a credenza.

Last
year, the company launched its first soundbar with separate wireless
surround speakers.
