ViewSonic is unveiling in the Texas Instruments’ booth at International CES an iPod-compatible DLP video projector.
The ViewSonic PJ258D ViewDock Projector, which will ship to dealers January 15 at a $1,099 suggested retail, is a DLP projector with XGA native resolution that incorporates a docking station for video iPods.
Using the direct iPod connection users can project content directly from a video iPod’s hard disk drive on large projection screens. While docked, the PJ258D will also charge the iPod’s battery.
The PJ258D presents 2,000 lumens of brightness, which Walnut, Calif.-based Viewsonic said is good for most ambient light settings. The contrast ratio is said to be 2,000:1.
Inputs are available for PC’s, game consoles or DVD players. The compact projector is said to weigh 2.9 pounds, and is light enough for travel.
