ViewSonic 20” LCD TV Hits $449

Walnut, Calif. — ViewSonic is now shipping a 20-inch LCD TV monitor with EDTV resolution at a $449 estimated street retail price, almost $350 less than the suggested retail price of a similarly sized model in last year’s line.

Model N2010 is said to bring a sleek new cosmetic design that is especially suited to kitchen counter, bedroom table or dorm room applications.

Panel brightness is listed as 450 nits; response time is rated at 16 milliseconds; and the contrast ratio is 500:1. The LCD TV will accept EDTV (480p) progressive scan DVD signals, which it will process with advanced 3:2 pull-down techniques.

Inputs on the unit include composite, component and S-Video.

“Consumers can now expect high-quality entertainment at an affordable price when purchasing flat-screen televisions for rooms beyond the home’s entertainment epicenter,” said Jeff Volpe, ViewSonic’s marketing VP.

Features in the LCD TV include 181-channel NTSC tuner, 125-channel cable compatibility, two built-in five-watt audio speakers, V-chip parental controls and closed captioning.

The N2010 is VESA compliant and can be mounted on walls or countertops. ViewSonic said the model will carry a one-year limited warranty on parts and labor.
