Wireless will begin offering its second 4G LTE smartphone on April 28 when the
Samsung-made Droid Charge becomes available at $299 with two-year contract.
It will join the HTC-made 4G
ThunderBolt, which retails for $174 to $249 depending on the outlet. The
carrier sold 260,000 ThunderBolts in the two-week period starting on March 17,
the day the product was launched through all distribution channels, and the end
of the first quarter, the carrier said in releasing its

The Charge, which uses the
Android 2.2 OS, features 4.3-inch display featuring proprietary Super AMOLED
Plus technology to deliver outdoor visibility and improved brightness and
clarity, the company said. Features include rear-facing 8 megapixel camera with
LED flash, front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera for stills and video chatting,
1GHz application processor, HTML 5 Web browser, Adobe Flash, virtual QWERTY
keyboard with Skype input technology, and mobile hotspot capability, letting up
to five Wi-Fi devices simultaneously share a 3G or 4G connection to the
Internet.
The phone also features access to Samsung’s
Media Hub content service, enabling users to download movies and TV shows for
rent or purchase.
Purchasers must sign up for a
Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan and an unlimited 4G LTE data
package. Nationwide Talk plans start at
$39.99/month. The unlimited 4G LTE data
plans is $29.99/month. The mobile hot spot feature will be included free in the
data plan for a limited time.
