5/19/2011 11:42:33 AM Eastern
Basking Ridge, N.J. - Verizon Wireless joined Sprint in offering a CDMA-based Windows 7 smartphone following the operating system's launch late last year on GSM/HSPA networks.

HTC
The new CDMA phone is the 3G HTC-made Trophy, priced at $149. It joins the $199 HTC-made Arrive launched by Sprint earlier this year.

One major point of differentiation between the two phones is the Trophy's inclusion of 2.1GHz-band 3G HSPA technology and quad-band GSM/EDGE for international voice and data service in more than 200 countries and 3G roaming in more than 125 countries. Another difference is the Sprint model's slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Both models lack mobile hot spot capability.

The $149 Trophy will be available online at www.verizonwireless.com on May 26 and on June 2 in Verizon stores and other retailers. Consumers who buy before July 15 get their choice of one of the following Xbox 360 console games for free: Halo Reach, Kinect Sports and Lode Runner.

Trophy features include 1GHz Snapdragon processor, WVGA 3.8-inch touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, 720p HD video capture, 16GB of on-board storage, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, and SRS WOW HD-enhanced sound.

Like other Windows 7 phones, the Trophy lets users view and edit Microsoft Office documents, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. The phones also access data on SharePoint servers. Users can also stream and download millions of songs with a Zune Pass subscription and access over 15,000 apps and games in Windows Phone Marketplace through the phone's Marketplace Hub. Also like other Windows 7 phones, Trophy syncs directly with Xbox LIVE mobile to let users access their avatar, profile and gamer score to keep track of their wins.

Sprint's HTC Arrive with sliding keyboard offers 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera, 800x480 3.6-inch touchscreen display, 720p HD video recording, 16GB of on-board storage, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and SRS WOW sound processing.
