Velodyne Expands Bluetooth Headphones

MORGAN HILL, CALIF. — Velodyne Acoustics introduced another pair of Bluetooth headphones last week, the vBold over-ear model.

The vBold headphones feature Bluetooth 2.1 with a 30-foot range, nearfield communications (NFC) technology and AptX coding. They have 40mm drivers, a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz, impedance of 32 ohms, and sensitivity of 105 dB/1kHz/1 mW.

Features include on-ear controls and a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion polymer battery with a 10-hour talk or music life. Standby time is listed at 100 hours. Charging is done via MicroUSB, and it takes 1.5 hours to reach a full charge. A cable is included for consumers who don’t wish to use Bluetooth.

They are able to fold for storage; a carrying pouch is included.

The vBold headphones will be offered in matte black or Satin Silver for a $349 suggested retail. The vBold join the vQuiet headphones, which was Velodyne’s first model with active noise-canceling. The vQuiet headphones were unveiled at IFA in September and have a $299 price tag.

Velodyne also has another Bluetooth model, the vFree, which are onear headphones with a $299 price tag.
