Dallas — Usee announced a new video phone and calling service last week.
The Useeisee PictureFone combines a corded phone with a 5.6-inch color display screen and a VGA resolution camera. Video is displayed at 24 fps.
It connects directly to broadband modems.
The $249 phone will be paired with an unlimited videophone and landline calling plan for $39.95/month. The phone supports E911 and number portability.
The company’s voice and video offering will run on XCast Labs’ network, which offers voice and video services on a private-label basis telecom carriers, ISPs and cable television operators.
The PictureFone will initially be sold directly through the company’s Web site.
