Uniden Lands Distribution For 8x8 IP Cordless Phone

Fort Worth, Texas — Uniden announced its first distributors for its UIP1868P multihandset cordless phone system that works with 8x8’s Packet8 VoIP service.

Fry’s, and will all offer the IP-enabled 5.8GHz digital cordless phone system in July. OfficeMax will offer the phone this month on its e-commerce site and in its brick-and-mortar locations in September.

These dealers are among the first to offer this new iteration of VoIP equipment that combines a terminal adapter with a cordless base station that plugs directly into a broadband modem to deliver IP calling to up to ten accessory handsets.

Uniden’s UIP1868P is compatible with Uniden’s TCX800, TCX400, TCX440, CLX500 and ELT560 flip-design phone accessory cordless handsets. The unit also features call waiting, caller ID, handset speakerphone, four-way conferencing, call transfer between handsets, DirectLink two-way radio capability and a “do not disturb” setting.

The Packet8 residential broadband phone service offers unlimited local and long distance calling to the United States and Canada for $19.95 per month with voicemail, call waiting, caller ID, local number portability (LNP), unlimited in-network calling, directory assistance ($.75 per call), call forwarding and call blocking.
