CE/Majaps Retail Sales Flat In May: Feds
WASHINGTON – May sell-through for CE and majap specialty retailers slipped 0.5 percent year over year to $8.4 billion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s monthly sales estimates. Sales also remained essentially flat from April, edging down 0.4 percent.
Vizio Unveils 80-Inch M-Series LCD TV
NEW YORK – Vizio has unveiled an 80-inch Razor LED smart TV with Theater 3D (passive-glasses) capability. The FullHD 1080p edge-lit unit has a $4,000 suggested retail, and it uses an updated and expanded built-in smart-TV platform called Vizio Internet Apps Plus.
ESPN Shutting Down 3D Channel At Year’s End
NEW YORK — After three years, ESPN is shutting down its 3DTV network at the end of the year and said it will distribute resources to other ESPN services. 2014 CES To Feature 40 Gaming Exhibitors
ARLINGTON, VA. — The Consumer Electronics Association said 2014 International CES, to be held Jan. 7-10, 2014, in Las Vegas, will feature 40 hardware and software exhibitors in its Gaming Showcase TechZone. The area will have 10,800 square feet of exhibit space.
Study: Panasonic Fourth Best ‘Global Green Brand’
SECAUCUS, N.J. – Panasonic was named the fourth Best Global Green Brand in an Interbrand study for 2013. Panasonic moved up two spots from No. 6, marking the first time that the company has been the highest-ranked electronics brand in the report.
