Tripp Lite Buys Keyspan

Chicago — Tripp Lite, a manufacturer of power protection and connectivity equipment, has acquired accessories supplier Keyspan.

Financial details of the sale were not released. Both companies are privately held.

The Keyspan brand appears on a broad line of peripherals such as remotes, USB hubs and servers, VoIP phones and iPod-connectivity products, new categories for Tripp Lite.

“Keyspan has developed a loyal customer base and established itself in a competitive computer peripherals market, making their products ideal for integration into Tripp Lite’s offering,” Keelin Wyman, Tripp Lite’s executive VP, said. “We share similar target markets as well as channel loyalty and product quality philosophies. This acquisition will ensure that Keyspan customers benefit from Tripp Lite’s manufacturing excellence, broad distribution channel and trusted reputation for providing reliable products worldwide.”

“We at Keyspan have created a strong brand name associated with high quality products,” said Mike Ridenhour, Keyspan president. “We’re pleased that Tripp Lite will continue providing Keyspan’s customers with the reliable products they expect, world-class service and support and unmatched channel loyalty. The combination of the Tripp Lite and Keyspan brands under the umbrella of Tripp Lite will provide increased efficiency by streamlining production, distribution and shipping.”

Tripp Lite was founded in 1922, providing headlights to the automotive industry. Today, besides marketing consumer and SO/HO products, the company is also a major equipment supplier to the health care industry.
