Santa Clara, Calf. – DisplaySearch is predicting 122 million
netbook/slate PC touchscreens will ship by 2016.
The research firm expects these touchscreen shipments to hit the
122 million mark in six years, up from the 19.5 million touchscreens expected
to ship this year. These screens are 5 inches to 10.2 inches in diameter, with
the most popular size being 9.7 inches.
However, going forward, DisplaySearch sees the 7-inch size as
dominating as 7-inch screen-based products from ViewSonic and Samsung’s Galaxy
Tab gain in popularity.
Strong demand will also cause average selling prices to rise for
the smaller 3- and 4.9-inch touchscreens used on mobile phones as these larger
screen sizes become more readily available on these devices.
