Toshiba Updates AIO PCs

4/11/2012 12:40:40 PM Eastern
New York - Toshiba has revamped its all-in-one PC line with a new more consumer-friendly design that includes a capacitive touchscreen.
Toshiba's redesigned 23-inch all-in-one PC.
Young Bae, Toshiba's product marketing manager, digital products division, said the company has replaced its former design -- which he described as being very IT-like -- with a look more suitable for a consumer's home. The new look includes edge-to-edge glass, recessed edges to hide connectors and ports, and a new folding stand.

The capacitive touchscreen readies the units for Microsoft's touch-friendly Windows 8 operating system that is due out later this year, Bae said.

The two SKUs are the LX815 and LX835. The former has a 21.5-inch screen and the latter a slightly larger 23-inch display. Each is configurable with Intel's third-generation Core processors, up to 16GB of memory, 3TB of storage, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI input and SRS Premium Sound 3D with Onkyo speakers. Other options include a Blu-ray drive and TV tuner with an IR blaster.

The LX815 has a $599 starting price while the LX835 comes in at $879. Both are scheduled to ship early in the third quarter.
