Toshiba Tablet PC Introduced

New York – Toshiba reported today it will show a working tablet PC during International CES that it plans to ship during the first half of 2011.

The as-yet-unnamed tablet will use the Android Honeycomb
operating system and it will be powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 dual core processor
with integrated graphics. The first version will be Wi-Fi only, but the company
is looking at other options.

The tablet will have a 10.1-inch multi-touch LED display with
1,200 by 800 resolution. The screen is adaptive and can adjust to different
lighting situations. It will weigh about 1.7 pounds.

Toshiba did not nail down a firm price at press time, but Osako
said it will be competitive with Apple’s iPad.

Other features include on on-screen keyboard with Haptic
feedback, a 2-megapixel front camera and a 5-megapixel rear camera, a USB 2.0
and mini USB ports, SD card slot and integrated GPS capability.

Consumers will be able to download apps from the Toshiba Places
app market and read books through the Toshiba’s BookPlace e-reader. There will
also be an online store for buying published content, the company said.
