Toshiba Names Regza Film Winner

Wayne, N.J. — Toshiba and the New York Film Academy (NYFA) Thursday said Eddie Mariano from Los Angeles has won “The One to Watch” film competition.

Mariano, an NYFA alum, will be awarded a one-year tuition scholarship from Toshiba to NYFA programs.

The winning films are available for viewing at http://tacp.toshiba.com/regza/commercial.html.

Toshiba said the competition invited the over 40,000 students and alumni of the NYFA to build on Toshiba’s popular “The One to Watch” Regza brand campaign and submit a short film highlighting the LCD TV line.

Filmmakers were asked to “tell a complete story about Regza in 29 seconds and demonstrate why Regza is the “The One to Watch.”

Mariano is a native of Miami who moved to the Los Angeles area to pursue filmmaking. He graduated from the NYFA’s L.A. campus in March of 2007.

The winner was determined by a panel of judges based on creativity of the video, use of humor, originality and relevance to the contest theme — “The One to Watch.”

The judging panel included: Scott Ramirez, Toshiba TV marketing VP; Jason Gastman of Toshiba; David Klein, NYFA senior director; and Michael Young, NYFA provost.

Consumers can view a detailed description of Toshiba’s Regza LCD lineup at: www.findtherightTV.com and www.REGZA.com.
