New York –
is marking its tenth anniversary with summertime shipments of its first
standalone iPod/iPhone dock, its smallest high-performance AM/FM table radio to
date, and multiple new color and finish options for its existing table radios.
Also to help celebrate its anniversary, the company is sponsoring
a Global Design Challenge open to anyone to design a tenth anniversary poster
for the company. The winning poster with the designer’s name will appear on a
digital billboard in Times Square from Dec. 1 until the ball drops on New
Year’s. The winner, who also gets $3,000, will be announced in October.
In products, the $119-suggested dock, called The Connector,
connects to any tabletop radio or A/V system via analog 3.5mm jack. It’s Works
with iPhone-certified, enabling the iPhone’s cellular radio to remain on and
able to receive calls while iPhone-stored music plays. The music automatically
pauses when a call comes in.
The Connector features S- and composite-video outputs for
connection to TVs, nine dock adapters, 100-240V universal external power
supply, and power adapter plugs for use in all parts of the world. The back of
an iPod or iPhone rests on an adjustable metal wheel to prevent dock- and
iPod/iPhone-connector damage when iPod/iPhone controls are pressed. The dock,
which comes with IR remote, will be available in multiple finishes, including
furniture-grade walnut, cheery or black wood, to match current Tivoli products.
The new vertically oriented AM/FM clock table radio is the Model
10, previously called the Model 200 but renamed for the company’s anniversary.
The single-chassis mono version will retail for $199, but a $279 package
includes a separate add-on speaker to deliver stereo sound. The mono version is
smaller than current Tivoli models at 7.8 inches by 4.8 inches by 4.8 inches.
The Model 10 features digital tuning of analog stations, FM RDS
(Radio Data System), remote control, and 3-inch front-firing driver. Like the
company’s tabletop FM/Internet radio, the Model 10 features a single rotary
control on top to access all functions, including clock-radio functions,
through a menu appearing on a front-panel LCD display with adjustable
brightness. Functions can also be accessed by the included remote.
Features include treble, bass, loudness and balance controls;
digital clock; two independent alarms; sleep timer and snooze control. It
maintains time during power outages. The radio also features five
station-preset buttons on back. Other features include aux and mix audio input,
and record, headphone and subwoofer outputs.
