TDK Presents 2002 Jammy Awards

Garden City, N.Y. – TDK Electronics will be the leading sponsor of the 2002 Jammy Awards Presented by TDK, to be held October 2 at the Roseland Ballroom, here.

The event, which honors jam bands and the live improvisational music scene, will bring together some of the biggest names in the industry, including members of the Grateful Dead, Phish, Dave Mathews Band, the Allman Brothers, Rusted Root, and many others.

The evening will also feature the TDK Live Performance of the Year Award, honoring the year’s single best live performance as voted on by music fans online at www.jammys.com, www.jambands.com, www.relix.com and via ballot in Relix magazine.

The Grateful Dead will be given the Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition, Jammys will be presented to winners in nine categories, including, Studio Album of the Year; Live Release of the Year, The TDK Live Performance of the Year and Tour of the Year. Others are Song of the Year, New Groove Award, Fan Web Site of the Year, the Mimi Fishman Community Service Award and Archival Album of the Year.

TDK is also providing prizes for the Jammys TDK Sweepstakes, which will award one winner a VIP prize package for two to the Jammy Awards Presented by TDK.

The awards show is produced by Relix magazine, Jambands.com and promoter Peter Shapiro in celebration of the improv-based jam band scene.
