Systemax Opens Distribution, Retail Complex In Georgia

Jefferson, Ga. – Systemax has opened its second U.S. distribution
center and TigerDirect.com retail store.

Both are located on a new 459,000-square-foot complex here about
60 miles outside Atlanta, which also holds a 100-seat B to B sales office.

The TigerDirect.com store is a new format that integrates
the company’s Internet-connected Retail 2.0 concept, which first appeared in
CompUSA, into its TigerDirect retail chain. The new store is the second
TigerDirect.com location in the U.S., following its debut in Chicago, and a
third location is planned for the Galleria in Dallas.

Retail 2.0 enables customers to access product information
in-store via some 300 displays that provide Web-based image galleries, product
manuals, customer reviews, price comparisons, on-site accessories and video
demos.  Customers can also comparison
shop by browsing competitors’ sites.

The distribution center houses state-of-the-art equipment for
faster fulfillment of Internet, catalog and inbound phone-based orders, and
will also ship merchandise to Systemax’s 40 CompUSA and TigerDirect retail
stores in North America, the company said.

The company is investing $15 million in the new 40-acre facility
and expects to hire about 400 full-time local employees over the next five
years.

Systemax also operates a complex in Naperville, Ill., that houses
a distribution center, a CompUSA location and a call center.

 “The new Georgia facility
is an integral component of Systemax’s growth strategy for our North American
consumer and business customers,” said Systemax CEO Richard Leeds. “The
facility’s ideal location and talent pool availability will allow us to better
serve the needs of our growing customer base and create a significant boost to
Georgia’s economy,” while the TigerDirect.com store will “provide our vast
selection of consumer technology products to shoppers in the greater Atlanta
area.”
