StarTech Bows Wi-Fi Detective

Groveport, Ohio — has introduced a handheld device designed to help mobile Internet users to locate accessible Wi-Fi networks without having to unpack their notebook computer. The battery-powered Wi-Fi Detective, which can be recharged via a standard USB connection to a powered computer, features an LCD display that indicates wireless signal strength, associated security protocols, operating channel and SSI.

The Wi-Fi Detective helps mobile Internet users to locate wireless hotspots&?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />&o:p>&/o:p>

According to the manufacturer, the device can locate 802.11b and 802.11g networks.

The Wi-Fi Detective will be available in June for a suggested retail price of $74.99.
