Groveport, Ohio — StarTech.com has launched its External Slim USB 2.0 DVD +/- RW dual-layer drive. The company said it is designed for mobile users whose notebook computers lack built-in DVD-RW drives, or desktop users who want to be able to user their DVD-RW drives interchangeably with their notebooks.
It features a slim Panasonic DVD-RW drive in a slim, durable and portable casing. According to StarTech, it has the enhanced rewrite ability offered by DVD-RAM technology as opposed to the standard RW technology.
Other notable features include the fact that the product doesn’t require a power adapter for CD/DVD-ROM use and that its tray-loading design allows for the use of mini CDs.
The product, part # SLIMDVDRW8U2, is now available with a suggested retail of $154.
