Las Vegas – Sprint plans summertime
availability of the first iDEN-network Android-OS smartphone, the Motorola i1 with a 3.1-inch HVGA touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Swype-equipped
virtual QWERTY keyboard and iDEN-network push-to-talk capability.
It will be the world’s first Android smartphone with push-to-talk
capability, the carrier said on the eve of CTIA Wireless 2010.
The phone, which will be displayed at Motorola’s booth here
at CTIA Wireless 2010, is built to military specifications for protection
against dust, shock, vibration and blowing rain. Other features include 5-megapixel
camera with flash, geo-tagging and panoramic capabilities. It also comes with provided
MicroSD card, Opera Mini 5 browser Microsoft Document Viewer and Microsoft
Exchange server compatibility.
Pricing and an exact availability date haven’t been
announced.
