SonyEricsson Appoints U.S. President

London — SonyEricsson has appointed new heads of its North American and Western Europe regions.

Anderson Teixeira, currently head of the Western Europe region, will become president of Sony Ericsson U.S. and head of the company’s North America region on June 1. He will be based in Raleigh, N.C. Teixeira replaces Najmi Jarwala, who left the company at the end of March “to pursue other career opportunities,” the company previously said.

Teixeira will assume responsibility for SonyEricsson’s sales and marketing operations in the U.S. and Canada and in that position will report to Anders Runevad, executive VP and head of global sales and marketing. Runevad is running North American operations until June 1. As president of Sony Ericsson U.S., Teixeira will report to Sony Ericsson president Dick Komiyama.

Teixeira has been part of Sony Ericsson since its founding in 2001 as a joint venture between Sony and Ericsson. He has been head of the Latin America region, based in Miami, and most recently head of the Western Europe region.

Kristian Tear will succeed Teixeira as Western Europe region head and will maintain his current responsibilities as head of Sony Ericsson’s global customer operations.

“Anderson has successfully led our Western European region through a difficult period and will provide region North America with excellent leadership and a strong commercial focus,” Komiyama said.
