Sony Updates Photo Printer Line

San Diego — Sony introduced two new dye-sublimation home photo printers today.

The new PictureStation DPP-FP55 is a portable unit featuring a 2-inch LCD display, allowing users to edit photos on the printer without a PC. The printer can crop, zoom, remove red eye and adjust color contrast.

The FP55 ships in July for an estimated $150.

In September Sony will add the $100 DPP-FP35. The PictBridge-enabled printer can connect to a PC or directly to a digital camera via USB cable.

All of Sony’s dye-sublimation photo printers seal prints with the company’s SuperCoat 2 laminate to protect prints from water, heat and fingerprints.

Sony offers three print packs of 4-inch by 6-inch thermal media for its printers. The SVM-F40 offers 40 sheets for $25, the F50 offers 80 sheets for $30, and the F120P offers 120 sheets for $35.
