Sony To Offer NS, CS Notebooks This Fall

San Diego, Calif. — Sony will continue to expand its Vaio notebook lineup this fall with its NS and CS models; earlier this week the company unveiled its AW series targeted at prosumers.

The NS has a 15.4-inch widescreen with XBRITE-ECO LCD technology. The device has optional Blu-ray Disc capabilities. It comes with a built-in Web cam and comes equipped with Vaio Movie Story digital video and digital image editing software. It also offers four USB ports.

The machine runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 processor and comes with 4GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive. It offers 802.11n integrated wireless LAN technology comes pre-installed with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

The NS is available in blue, white and silver at an approximate starting price of $650; the Blu-ray Disc model will start at about $1,000.

The CS runs on Intel’s Core 2 Duo P8400 processor and it also comes with 4GB or RAM and pre-installed Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. Along with its 320GB hard drive, it has 802.11n integrated wireless LAN technology.

It offers a 14.1-inch widescreen display with XBRITE-ECO technology and the entire device is said to weigh 5.7 pounds with a standard battery.

The CS also has an optional Blu-ray Disc optical drive and offers a variety of entertainment features like touch-sensor A/V slide control and a 12-tone music analyzer that is said to translate a user’s music into “a colorful LED light show that plays out beneath the trim of the CS notebook,” according to Sony. It also features include its integrated camera and microphone.

The CS features a glossy finish available in four colors — sangria, cosmopolitan, dove and black. A standard black matte finish is also available.

Pricing for the CS will start at about $920 for a basic model and $1,070 for the Blu-ray-equipped model.
