New York - Sony closed
out its summer laptop roll out today with the introduction of the Vaio Z

The Z Series is Sony's flagship ultra-portable laptop. The device
is .66-inches thick and weighs 2.5 pounds, about 8-ounces lighter than its
predecessor due to the new carbon fiber chassis.

It will be available for presale on July 13 only through the Sony Style online store for about
$2,000. Shipments will take place later this summer.

The Z models will come what Sony has dubbed, a Power Media Dock.
This is a docking station with a built-in AMD Radeon HD 6650M graphics card
with 1GB of video RAM, a slot loading optical drive (including an optional
Blu-ray player), three USB ports along with HDMI and VGA ports. When docked the
laptop can support up to three extra HD displays.

The Z models have eight hours of battery life, however this can
be doubled with the use of an optional sheet-battery that attaches flush to the
computer's bottom.

The Z Series come use standard voltage Intel Core i5 and i7
processors with Turbo Boost and dual channel solid state storage.

Select models have integrated mobile broadband through AT&T
and Sprint and the laptops can act as a mobile hotspot for up to five PCs or
Wi-Fi enabled devices.
