SMBs To Boost Tablet Spending

Port Washington, N.Y. – Small businesses are more likely to
buy a tablet in the next year, with the iPad the leading candidate to be
purchased.

This is according to a survey by The NPD Group.

NPD found that 73 percent of small businesses, those with
less than 50 employees, plan to buy tablets during the next 12 months, up from
68 percent. The total amount spent will be around $21,500.

Among larger companies, those with 501 to 999 employees, 89
percent now intend to buy new tablets. This is up 8 percent from the second
quarter of 2011. Total amount spent will be around $39,000.

“Businesses of all sizes appear to be determined to
capitalize on the tablet phenomenon,” said Stephen Baker, industry analysis VP
at NPD. “The iPad, just as it is in the consumer market, is synonymous for
‘tablet’ in the business market, leaving Apple poised to take advantage of the
increased spending intentions of these SMBs. NPD’s research shows that iPad
purchase preference is higher among larger firms than smaller ones, which is an
important indicator that Apple is gaining traction far outside its typical
consumer space.”
