SiriusXM Launches Second 2.0 Radio

12/29/2011 05:09:41 PM Eastern

New York - SiriusXM Radio made
good on its promise to bring out two SiriusXM 2.0 radios in late 2011,
announcing that the second radio just became available through its website and
the Crutchfield online store.

SiriusXMThe $249-suggested Lynx will be
available "soon" at other retailers nationwide, the satellite broadcaster added.

The Lynx joins the Edge
tuner
as the first two tuners capable of receiving SiriusXM's SiriusXM 2.0 channel lineup, which expands the
broadcaster's lineup by 22 channels, with eight more to come in the future.

New channels
already available include the new SiriusXM Latino suite
of Spanish-language programming.

 Both models are
dock-and-play tuners that can be connected to home or car stereo systems.

 Promoted as "the
most advanced radio ever from SiriusXM," the Android-based Lynx offers time
shifting and can be upgraded with new features and capabilities through
software updates delivered via Wi-Fi. It also features multi-touch
touchscreen that displays album art and artist bios.

The Lynx
also features stereo Bluetooth to stream content to Bluetooth speakers,
headphones, vehicle stereo systems and the like.

When docked
with the $69-suggested Lynx LV1 vehicle kit or $69 Lynx LH1 home kit, the radio
offers such new features as:

--Tune Start, which automatically starts the currently
playing song from the beginning so listeners hear the whole song when they tune
to any music channel saved as a favorite;

  • Radio Replay, which lets subscribers automatically store
    up to 200 hours of programming from favorite channels;

  • Pause, rewind and replay, enabling listeners to up to 30
minutes of live SiriusXM content on the currently tuned channel and on five favorite
    channels; and

  • Show Finder, an electronic programming guide offering a
complete list of what's on over the next seven days.

 At home or in the
office, listeners can use Wi-Fi to listen to SiriusXM Internet Radio via the
home kit, but the radio also features a rechargeable battery, enabling it to
stream SiriusXM's Internet service at Wi-Fi hot spots.

 The car kit enables
connection to a car stereo system via SiriusXM's PowerConnect
transmitter, which injects audio signals over the vehicle's power wires to be
picked up by the radio. Content can also be streamed via stereo Bluetooth to
stereo systems equipped with stereo Bluetooth. An aux-in connection is also
available to plug the radio into car stereo systems.
