Sirius Hits 800K Subs; XM Adds Separate Web Channels

Washington, D.C.— Sirius Satellite Radio announced it passed the 800,000-subscriber mark on Nov. 22 and reported it will offer a $30 rebate program during the holiday selling season.

The Sirius mail-in rebate will be available on most Sirius products when activated prior to Dec. 31, the company said.

Also in satellite radio, XM announced it is adding two new music channels that will be available on its Internet service.

The channels include the Eye, a top 40 mix of hip hop tracks by artists such as Snoop Dogg, Nelly, Usher, Mario, Destiny’s Child, and Chingy. Also new is enLIGHTen!, a southern gospel music channel.

The channels are part of XM’s separate Internet subscription service called XM Radio Online, available for a fee of $7.99 a month or $3.99 a month for current subscribers.
