Sirius Adjusts Products After FCC Inquiry

Sirius broke its silence about a possible Federal Communications Commission (FCC) inquiry into the emissions of its products last week, more than a month after rival XM said it received a letter from the FCC investigating emissions on the Delphi SkyFi2.

Sirius executive VP/chief financial officer David Frear, speaking at the Bernstein Strategic Decisions Conference, said that some of Sirius’ manufacturing partners received a letter from the FCC requesting their test data on FM modulator products. Frear said, “Our radio manufacturer partners provided their test data to our engineers, and some of them did test outside the band of allowable emissions.”

Frear said that changes were made at the manufacturing plants on those products two or three weeks ago, and “now all products are in compliance with the FCC.”
