Sherwood Launches Unilateral Pricing

Cerritos, Calif. – Sherwood America will adopt a
unilateral pricing policy on two new A/V receivers (AVR) targeted to the specialty-A/V
channel.

Under the policy, dubbed a “unilateral minimum resellers pricing policy,”
Sherwood will unilaterally stop shipping the two products to dealers that do
not comply with minimum advertised and resale pricing on the models. Other
select audio companies have similar unilateral pricing policies.

The Sherwood policy will apply to the Newcastle R-972 and
Sherwood R-904N NetBoxx. The Newcastle R-972 is promoted as the first consumer
product that incorporates Trinnov Optimizer technology used in the $13,000
professional Trinnov processor. The technology delivers spatial correction of a
soundfield to compensate for speaker placement, delivering accurate imaging,
the company said.

The Sherwood R-904 NetBoxx AVR
receiver streams audio and video from a PC and directly from the Internet without
a PC. It also features Dolby Volume and all authorized Blu-ray surround
decoders in a slim chassis resembling a Blu-ray player.

Additional product details will be released at the CEDIA Expo.

Sherwood distributed the policy’s terms to dealers to guide them
on planned advertising and co-op usage. The policy covers print, broadcast,
direct-mail and online advertising as well as in-store displays and offers for
sale, the company said.
