Sharp Shipping 2nd-Gen. Aquos Gaming LCDs

Sharp is now shipping its second-generation Aquos 1080p LCD TVs optimized for video gaming.

The company will offer three 32-inch models — the LC-32GP3U-B, LC-GP3U-W and LC-GP3U-R — in black, white and wine red glossy finishes and slim-line cabinet styling with bottom-mounted speakers for reduced width.

Each carries a $1,599 suggested retail.

In addition to offering Full HD 1,920 by 1,080 resolution, the three sets were designed to handle the highest frame rates.

Each set includes Sharp’s Vyper Drive system that reduces the lag time between the game console input and the TV display.

A “Game Mode” button on the remote control triggers the Vyper Drive and provides quick access to the side-mounted terminal inputs.

Users can change the Vyper Drive and Game Mode to a different input if they choose to connect to a rear terminal.

A subwoofer audio output allows an active subwoofer connection.

Other features include: dual sets of component video, and three HDMI version 1.3 (with x.v.Color support), inputs, all compatible with 1080p signals; support for 1080p 24 fps rates; and PC input.

Dynamic contrast is listed at 10,000:1 through the use of Sharp’s Advanced Super View LCD panels and its four-wavelength backlighting system. Pixel response time is 6ms, brightness is 450cd/m2 and the viewing angle is 176 degrees.
