Sharp Reveals Next-Gen Quattron TVs

LAS VEGAS —

Sharp is unveiling at International CES
the next phase in its Quattron four-color LCD development,
including a larger-screen size, more LED edgeand
backlit models, and second-phase 3D models.

Among the highlights this year is the company’s
LE732U Quattron (quad-pixel) 3D TV series featuring
the huge 70-inch LC-70LE732U (shipping in April at a
price to be announced). The set is based on an X-Gen
Quattron panel using pixels with four-primary colors
(red, green, blue and yellow), instead of the conventional
three colors for enhanced color depth.

The FullHD 1080p/120Hz set uses a full-array LED
backlighting system to produce a 6,000,000:1 dynamic
contrast ratio.

Included in the set is network connectivity with builtin
Wi-Fi reception and access to streaming service
partners, including CinemaNow, Netflix, and Vudu.
The set also supports Alphaline and Aquos Advantage
Live support with DLNA compatibility to link to storage
on networked PCs and peripherals.

Sharp will also roll out the next phase of its 3D TV
development in its 835 Quattron model series.

The line, which will ship in February at pricing to
be announced, features the 60-, 52-, 46- and 40-inch screen sizes, all using brighter 3D X-Gen Quattron
panels, edge-lit LED allowing ultra-slim/narrow bezzle
cabinets, Full 1080p resolution, AquoMotion 240Hz
circuitry, an 8,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and
active-shutter 3D support (glasses will be optional).

Also included will be network functionality with builtin
Wi-Fi supporting CinemaNow, NetFlix, Vudu, Alphaline,
DLNA and Aquos Advantage Live.

The 830 series, which ships in March at prices to be
announced, will include the 60-, 52-, 46- and 40-inch
screen sizes, all using X-Gen panels with Quattron
(Quad Pixel) technology, 1080p/120Hz resolution,
LED edge lighting, 6,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratios,
ultra-slim and narrow bezel designs, and built-in
Wi-Fi with network functionality

The 632 series, which ships in March, will feature
the 60-inch LC-60LE632U, 1080p/120Hz LCD TV,
with a 4,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and built-in
Wi-Fi for network functionality.

The 430 series, which is due in March, will include
the 32-, 24- and 19-inch screen sizes. The 32-inch
model will have 1080p/120Hz resolution, while the remaining
two models will have 720p/60Hz panels. All
will have 3,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratios, and a
USB media player connection for photos and music.
