Sharp Names Takahashi New SEC CEO, Chairman

Mahwah, N.J. –

Sharp
Electronics

(SEC) last month named Kozo Takahashi chairman and chief
executive officer of SEC, and group general manager of the North and South
America group.

Takahashi replaces Doug Koshima, who was transferred to a new
assignment as general manager of the Central and South America in the global
market development group.

Takahashi is a 30-year veteran of Sharp Corp., most recently
serving as group general manager in the health and environment systems group.

This will be his second assignment in the United States. He
served as part of the management team of Sharp Electronics’
business-to-business group from June 1997 to April 2001.

As chairman and CEO, Takahashi will oversee overall direction,
management and administration of all corporate operations for the company’s
various divisions, and will be responsible for the strategic vision for the
company.

Sharp Electronics is the U.S. sales and marketing subsidiary of
Sharp Corp., Osaka, Japan.

“I am very pleased to be back at Sharp Electronics Corporation,
at such an exciting time for the company,” stated Takahashi. “Mr. Koshima’s
strong guidance during the downturn has positioned the company for success. As
the U.S. economy recovers, I hope to use my experience to renew Sharp’s
strategic focus on health and environmental products, as well as its strengths
in LCD and solar electricity to help grow the brand and contribute to future
successes.”
