INDIANAPOLIS — Sharp will use CEDIA Expo to present two new DLP front projectors and unveil an expanded AQUOS LCD-TV lineup, including a lower-priced tier of fully integrated HDTV models.
In front projectors, the company will show a new high-definition 720p model in the SharpVision XV-Z12000 Mark II (shipping in October at a $10,999.99 suggested retail). The projector offers enhancements over the previous model, including a 7,000:1 contrast ratio and 1,000 ANSI lumens of brightness.
The projector is powered by Texas Instruments’ 1,280 by 720 pixel Dark Chip3 DLP chip and Sharp’s proprietary Computer & Video Integrated Composer (CV-IC II) System technology.
A powered iris switchover function changes multiple brightness and contrast settings for changing home theater environments.
Sharp will also show a more affordably priced EDTV-level DLP projector in the DT-100 (shipping in October at a $1,299.99 suggested retail). The compact unit weighs just over 8.5 pounds and can be easily moved from room to room, Sharp said.
The DLP chip’s native resolution is 854 by 480, and image brightness is listed at 1,000 ANSI lumens. The contrast ratio is 2,000:1. Other features include a six-segment, 5x color wheel and a low 30dBA fan noise in economy mode.
Among the latest AQUOS LCD-TV introductions is a new lower-priced tier of fully integrated, digital-cable-ready models, in the D4U and D6U series.
The D4U series, which will represent the new price step below the current D5U series, will all have 16:9 aspect ratios, ATSC and NTSC tuners, and CableCARD slots. Screen sizes will include 26W inches, 32W inches and 37W-inches.
All feature a contemporary design and piano black finish with side speakers, and 1,366 by 768 HDTV resolution.
Other features include Quick Shoot video circuitry for fast response times, HDMI and dual HD component video inputs and a 4,000:1 contrast ratio.
Models include the 26W-inch LC-26D4U ($1,699.99 suggested retail), the 32W-inch LC-32D4U ($2,399.99) and the 37W-inch LC-37D4U ($3,499.99). All recently started shipping to dealers.
The D6U series, which ships this month, is available in a sleek titanium finish with black sides, and detachable bottom speakers and will include the 26W-inch LC-26D6U ($1,799.99), the 32W-inch LC-32D6U ($2,499.99) and the 37W-inch LC-37D6U ($3,599.99).
Highlighting new AQUOS LCD-TV offerings will be the 65W-inch ILC-65D90U (shipping in November at a $19,999 suggested retail), which the company bills as the largest available LCD TV in the world.
The set includes built-in ATSC/NTSC tuners, a Digital CableCARD slot and full 1,080p resolution. Other features include a new four-wavelength backlight system which provides an enhanced color spectrum and produces more vivid and deeper reds than previously possible.
Inputs include HDMI, IEEE-1394, DVI-I and HD component video. Additionally, the 65-inch AQUOS features Quick Shoot video circuitry for fast response time, a high brightness level and high contrast ratio.
Sharp will also show new digital cable ready 45W-inch AQUOS models in the LC-45GD7U and LC-45GD5U. Both units will be available in October at a $6,499.99 suggested retail price, each.
Both models include ATSC/NTSC tuning, digital CableCARD slots, a TV Guide On Screen programming guide and full 1,920 by 1,080p resolution.
The panels include Quick Shoot video circuitry for fast response time, HDMI and DVI advanced digital interfaces, high brightness and a 4,000:1 contrast ratio.
The D7U series is available in a titanium finish with detachable bottom speakers and the D5U series is available in a new piano black finish with detachable side speakers.
