Sharp Expands 80-inch LCD Assortment

Las Vegas – Sharp Electronics introduced here Monday an new 80-inch
class large-screen LCD TV with advanced feature sets, and added a revamped
connected TV interface for step up Aquos TV models.

The company announced the addition of an 80-inch Aquos set that
provides a step up from the LC-80LE632U ($5,499 suggested retail) introduced in
October. The new model adds 3D capability, Sharp’s Quattron technology and a new
Smart Central advanced smart-TV user interface to the full-array LED backlit
1080p HDTV screen size class.

Meanwhile, the company is demonstrating as a technology statement
this week a so-called 8K 85-inch TV display with 32 million pixels of
resolution.

The company is also showing a range of Aquos Free Style wireless TVs
in 20-, 32-, 40- and 60- inch screen sizes. The sets are being presented here
for feedback as Sharp studies a possible U.S. market introduction later.

The two smallest screen sizes can be run on lithium ion batteries
and feature carrying handles. Larger models can be moved anywhere where there
is a power outlet, receiving signals from a central hub via Wi-Fi.

Meanwhile, the newest 80-inch LCD TV model LC-80LE844U will ship
in April at a $6,499 suggested retail price, featuring an active-shutter
glasses-based 3D image, and a newly developed 240Hz Aquos LCD panel that reduces
blurring of fast-moving video. The LC-80LE844U also incorporates Wi-Fi, 4 HDMI
inputs and the new SmartCentral user interface.

Sharp said its smart-TV system now includes more than 100 apps,
such as: CinemaNow, Netflix, Vudu, DLNA PC, network-attached storage device
linking, and Aquos Advantage Live remote service.

Smart Central is described as an intuitive and customizable user
interface with advanced searching and capability as well as access to key apps.

Another new smart feature called Beamzit is a free media-sharing
app to wirelessly send photos, music and video to a Sharp Wi-Fi enabled
television from an iOS, Android or Windows phone or tablet.

Meanwhile, Sharp’s Quad Pixel Plus II Quattron technology will be
found in 60-inch and 70-inch Sharp Aquos Quattron 8 and 9 series LED TVs. The
system produces greater detail, with smoother lines and color transitions,
Sharp said.

In other Aquos model offerings, the company presented two 945-series
FullHD 1080p TVs in the 70- and 60-inch screen sizes.

Both models ship this summer at prices to be announced and are 3D
capable, with 240Hz refresh rates, and full-array LED backlighting with local
dimming technology, smart-TV and Smart Central user interface.

Sharp will also offer 70- and 60-inch models in the 3D-capable 847
series. Both the LC-70LE847U ($4,199) and LC-60LE847U ($3,199) include 3D X-Gen
panel with Quattron Quad Pixel technology, 240Hz refresh rates, LED edge-lighting,
Wi-Fi, smart-TV functions and ship in
April.

The 70- and 60-inch screen sizes will also be offered in the new 745
series. Both the LC-70LE745U and LC-60LE745U will ship in March at pricing to
be announced and offer FullHD 1080p resolution, 120Hz refresh rates, 3D
capability, LED edge lighting, ultra-slim narrow bezel design, built-in Wi-Fi,
smart-TV features with the Smart Central interface, and four HDMI inputs.

The LC-60LE745U ($2,699) and LC-70LE745U ($3,599), will ship in
March.

The company also showed 640 and 540 series LCD models in screen
sizes ranging from 42 to 70 inches.
