Sharp Cuts Production Of LCD Panels

Tokyo –

Sharp

said Friday it
will temporarily cut production of LCD panels, as inventory levels grow in
China and the United States.

The company will reduce production of 40-inch and larger panels
at its Sakai factory by 20 to 30 percent for up to two months, according to
reports from Japan.

The move may impact supplies available to Sharp component
customers, including Sony, but is not expected to have an impact on Sharp’s own
needs, the reports said.

 Sharp said it still
expects to sell 15 million TVs for fiscal 2010, up 47 percent over 2009.
