LAS VEGAS —
Sharp Electronics will use International
CES to continue its expansion into 80-inch
class large-screen LCD TVs with more advanced feature
sets, and will introduce a revamped connected
TV interface.
The company will show two new 80-inch Aquos
sets that will step up from the LC-80LE632U ($5,499
suggested retail) introduced in October. Both add
3D capability, full-array LED backlighting, and a new
Smart Central advanced smart-TV user interface that
will be a key part of Sharp’s 2012 TV and Blu-ray Disc
player lines.
The LC-80LE645U adds 3D capability, using
Sharp’s 80-inch FullHD 1080p 3D 120Hz X-Gen
panel with more than twice the screen area of 55-
inch sets, Sharp said.
The monster set, which will ship in April at a price
to be announced, employs built-in Wi-Fi connectivity
and the aforementioned Smart Central user interface
for smart-TV features that offers full-screen
and dock views and enables full web browsing and
search functionality.
The smart-TV system now includes more than
100 apps, such as: CinemaNow, Netflix, Vudu,
DLNA PC, network-attached storage device linking,
and Aquos Advantage Live remote service.
Also slated for introduction is the 80-inch FullHD
1080p 3D-ready LC-80LE844, which will ship at
date and price to be announced later. It includes a
bright 3D X-Gen panel with Sharp’s advanced Quattron
(Quad Pixel) technology, a 240Hz refresh rate,
full-array LED backlighting, and smart-TV functions
powered by the new Smart Central user interface.
In other offerings, the company will present two
945-series FullHD 1080p TVs in the 70- and 60-
inch screen sizes.
Both models are 3D capable, and use Sharp’s 3D
X-Gen Panel with improved Quattron Pixel Plus II
technology that offers new levels of 3D depth enhancement.
Both have 240Hz refresh rates, and full-array LED
backlighting with local dimming technology, smart-
TV and Smart Central user interface, built-in Wi-Fi
connectivity and five HDMI inputs.
The LC-70LE945U and C-60LE945U will ship in
June at prices to be announced.
Sharp will also offer 70- and 60-inch models in
the 3D-capable 847 series. Both the LC-70LE847U
and LC-60LE847U will ship in April at prices to be
announced, and include 3D X-Gen panel with Quattron
Quad Pixel technology, 240Hz refresh rates,
LED edge-lighting system, and an ultra-slim, narrow
bezel design with brushed-aluminum finish.
They include built-in Wi-Fi, smart-TV functions with
the Smart Central user interface and four HDMI inputs.
The 70- and 60-inch screen sizes will also be offered
in the new 745 series. Both the LC-70LE745U
and LC-60LE745U will ship in March at pricing to
be announced and offer FullHD 1080p resolution,
120Hz refresh rates, 3D capability, LED edge lighting,
an ultra-slim narrow bezel design, built-in Wi-Fi,
smart-TV features with the Smart Central interface,
and four HDMI inputs.
The 640 series ships in March and includes three
screen sizes: 70, 60 and 52 inches.
All include FullHD 1080p X-Gen panels with LED
edge lighting, 120Hz refresh rates, ultra-slim and narrow
bezel designs, built-in Wi-Fi, smart TV with the
Smart Central user interface and four HDMI inputs.
The 540 series also ships in March and includes
a similar feature package in the 46- and 42-inch
screen sizes.
Sharp will also present a new 3D-capable FullHD
DLP projector in the XV-Z30000, which ships in
February at a price to be announced.
Sharp said the SharpVision-branded projector
will be sold through the Elite distribution base of
A/V specialty dealers and custom installers.
The XV-Z30000 is a center-lens model with horizontal
and vertical lens-shift control for more accurate
and flexible setup, two pairs of active-3D glasses
that include both 3D and 2D selection modes,
and a built-in IR emitter.
The projector’s contrast ratio is listed at 50,000:1
and brightness is listed at 1,600 ANSI lumens. It
includes two iris modes, brightness/contrast, six
speed/six primary RGB color wheel for natural
color reproduction, a 2.35:1 cinema scope vertical
stretch mode, dual HDMI terminals, and component,
S-video and PC inputs. An HQV Reon VX-210
chip handles image processing along with a gamma
adjustment and color management system.
Both an RS-232 Control Port with 12-volt trigger
and RJ45 LAN are included.
