Sennheiser Takes Next Step In Counterfeit Battle

Old Lyme, Conn. — Sennheiser, one of the most vocal foes of illegal headphones counterfeiting, said it has implemented new ID technology for its consumer packaging.

Products will bear the Tesa ProSpot label, which has visible and invisible characteristics for checking authenticity. The label shows up in different colors under direct light, Sennheiser said, and the last digit of the security code is repeated in an enlarged format, allowing consumers to verify it at the company’s website.

Consumers will also be able to scan the QR code to check its authenticity.

The labels will appear on Sennheiser products beginning at the end of this year.
