Dearborn, Mich. – Ford announced it has updated its Send to
Sync feature with the option to select a destination on Google Maps and send it
to a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle.
The Google Maps Web site
will have an option to send the destination to the vehicle. When the driver
connects to the Sync with Traffic, Directions & Information (TDI) app, he
then will be able to download the destination into the vehicle and receive
navigation guidance.
Ford said the best route
is calculated in the cloud with the latest traffic information taken into
consideration. A car featuring a map-based nav system allows the destination
point to be downloaded directly to that system, and the route will then be
calculated with the driver’s preferences also taken under account.
The Google Maps feature
will launch later this month, according to Ford, which said it’s “the only
automaker offering this capability without requiring a paid subscription to a
telematics service.”
